The Quilt

Back in August I was like exploding with a desire to create a quilt! I’ve never done that before, didn’t read any book, didn’t do any course, but the wish was overwhelming. So I went through pins on the pinterest to figure out what pattern I actually want, so I came across some zick-zack quilt made out of triangles.

So here it is! It took me about 3 months to make it. Mostly because I am working full time and have only some hours during the week to work on it. And of course I had to learn doing so many things, like cutting out triangles, sewing them all in one piece, layering the quilt, sewing it all together, hand binding it.. Uff.. But I am so happy with the result!
It measures 200×150 cm.

How it all started…

Deco card

If you’ve seen one of my previous posts about the Elephant you might want to see the second part of the present 🙂
Originally it was planned as a card, but then it turned out a bit big and heavy, so I have decided to put it into the frame.
Quite some time ago I have seen one inspiring video tutorial on easy quilting cards, actually the technique was targeting cards from paper. But I went for fabrics that are the same as the elephant is made from, so they are a perfect match!

Here you can see the basic steps for how to get such quilting effect also with fabrics, hope you will get a general idea 🙂

I am in the mood for sewing

I started sewing before I even knew what scrapbooking is, but lately I was doing mostly only scrapbooking. Time to change!
So here are 2 projects of mine I have been working on yesterday and today.

First one and the biggest (and the cutest one) is this elephant. Last weekend I’ve learnt that friends of mine got a baby boy! And I came across this elephant on a blog of retromama, so that was a perfect match!  I totally love this cute creature which also can be used as a pillow. It was made from 100% cotton fabrics and filled with cotton and love 🙂

This elephant will fly behind the Arctic Circle, to Tromso, Norway. That’s where little Sigve lives 🙂

I’ve spent quite some time with embroidering the boy’s name “Sigve” (I am not the fastest embroiderer ever!), but here is the result!

And here is less interesting project, but more functional. I’ve got a new glove for fencing and I had to mark it somehow that it’s mine, so I came up with idea of embroidering an arrow (I like arrows from scrapbooking!). And man, that was hard! The glove is made from a special material which was nearly impossible to pierce through…

Другой проект этих выходных – перчатка. Конечно же перчатку я не шила, а купила. Это перчатка для фехтования. Мне нужно было ее как-то поментить, чтобы случайно не перепутать с чужой. Вышила стрелку на ней.

Hope you are having a more sunny Sunday than I do 🙂

It’s a harvest time

This pear I’ve made resides at my office desk. I find it fits pretty well to my green zone.

Such a fun project! And it’s really easy to do. Shall I go for apples? Or better pumpkins! Halloween is coming by the way. I guess by the time I am finished with a pumpkin it will be already time to sing Christmas carols 🙂

So tomorrow is Monday again… Oh dear.. Well,  at least I will see my pear again 😉

Heidelberg hearts

I like Tilda style a lot, so I’ve got myself these wonderful fabrics. I always want to get more and more, but have to stop as I barely have any time to produce anything out of them 🙂

Those lavender hearts I created specially for two amazing american girls I’ve met on the fencing course. Such a pity that they had to go back home so soon.. Gen, Kelly, I miss you!

I’ve filled the hearts with Liebe and Lavendelblüten as the picture says 🙂

I hope you are having a nice weekend!
